Am I a genius? Am I smart? What makes me smart? How much potential do I have?

Have you asked yourself these questions? How much potential do you have? What are your abilities?

If you are aware of them and are utilizing them in good ways – well done!

If you are not aware of them I don’t blame you because you seem to be happy and fullfilled even though you are not using your god given strengths in life. also – well done!

Let me illustrate how much potential you have and how many abilities you are aware of with this draft:

You see those blank circles? (pardon me for the rough drawing, I like to keep it simple 🙂 they are your hidden skills which you are ignoring and those filled circles are the skills which you are aware of.

In the above chart there are three filled circles, theoritically speaking, it means that there are three discovered abilities that were hidden. Oftenly there are people who have unleashed more than three circles of talent and oftenly there are people who have unleashed zero circles of talent. The matter is in your hands, whether you want to discover them or not.

Possible skills could be anything!

Public speaking, tutoring, coaching, listening, talking, sports, drawing, writing, observing, analysing, relating, communicating, organizing, co-ordinating, etc etc etc ANYTHING!

The Budhist quote “When the student is ready, the master appears” is of great significance, I’m not claiming to be a religious expert, I’m only demonstrating my own understanding of the quote.

Why is it significant? because if you are not searching for your abilities, skills and talents – you will not find them. Therefore you are not ready to be aware of them and use them.

The bible:  “And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.” (Jeremiah 29:13)

How do I find my talent?

Keep your eyes open! speaking about my personal experience; I used to think that all praise is meaningless and is said just for the sake of conversation.

Now I come to realise that every single joke has a percentage of truth in them.

So watch out for the feedback that you get. Not all jokes are jokes 🙂 keep your eyes and ears open (I don’t know how you will keep your ears open,, I think you should shift your ear drum so that more air can enter 🙂 ) for good feedback that you get from your surrounding. Notice the hidden key in those praises or jokes that come from the mouths of your friends, family or colleagues, this will help you in discovering your abilities. Reading books and articles, noticing successful people around you – and what makes them successful – will be of great help as well.

BELIEVE IN YOURSELF!

Believe that you have hidden abilities that are not activated.

Why are my talents hidden?

Because we have been conditioned since childhood to think that everything is pre-determined, everything is bad, we have no choice in anything, we should follow the “norm” and we should imitate our friends or what we see on T.V. you might also be busy with your social obligations; family, work, studies. They deviate your mind from these hidden abilities which you are unaware of.

Shocking Facts from NLP

NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) refers to the study of success. Generaly speaking, it is a study on how can your mind-set and psychology be affected and altered by language, meditation etc. These are some facts quoted from www.suhailalgosaibi.com

  • By the time a child turn 6 years old he’s heard the word “NO!” 148,000 times!
  • 90% of prisoners were told by their parents that they’d end up in jail. How’s that for self-fullfilling prophecies?
  • There is no relation between a person’s GPA (grade point average) and their success in life. How pertinent!
  • Today, in the US 40% of kids are on medication!!
  • By the age of 12, a child has seen 12,000 murders in the media. I really wonder how they measure these things, but I’m sure it must be either true or very close to the truth.
  • 75% of our programming from parents, peers, the media, school etc. is negative!

Suhail is a Radical Entrepreneur who is based in Bahrain, he is a master Neuro Linguistic Programmer and a third Dan Zendo-Kickboxing Blackbelt. I definitely recommend that you visit his blog. Click here to view the full article.

This inhibition and negativity is sealing our awareness of our true talents.

Have Faith

Remember that you should have the desire to find what god given talents and abilities you have, and once you find them – you can utilize those abilities which you enjoy utilizing. This, my friend, can bring more happiness and self-contentment in your life.

“Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.”

IQ TESTS EXPOSED! Why IQ is overrated and why it does not measure your intelligence

Have you noticed wherever you go people start talking about how smart they are because of scoring high IQ scores… well.. to me. this is B.S!

IQ DOES NOT MEASURE YOUR INTELLIGENCE!

YOU HAVE YOUR OWN UNIQUE INTELLIGENCE!

Most IQ tests are based on GENERAL KNOWLEDGE, spacial recognition, mathematics!! etc. This does not necessarily measure how smart you are.

BUT WHY?

Because I personally believe that no man alive can put you in a box! or limit your abilities!, in other words, god’s creatures are immeasurable, you can give a proximity on something but you can not put it to a limit (I’ll discuss this topic on another post). Can you count how many stars are there in the sky? can you have two people with the same finger print? Did you know that if you take two new cars straight out of the factory – exact replicas – race them together and there has to be a car that is faster than the other! even if it’s a small fraction! although both of the cars are the same in model in make in year in everything.

Now, if two cars are manufactured with delicate precision are not the same, then how can an IQ test convince me that our intelligences are the same? – complex creatures like us – are the same??

Being a General Knowledge-geek does not mean that you are smart

Henry Ford was the founder of Ford Motor Company. He was the founder of the modern assembly line used by factories worldwide. He was also an inventor, and holds 161 patents. While building an automotive empire he became one of the richest, most well-known men in the world. One day he was accused of being stupid and ignorant, so he sued the newspaper that gave him these accusations.

As quoted from Napoleon Hill’s book – Think and Grow Rich, here is what he said:

“If I should really WANT to answer the foolish question you have just asked, or any of the other questions you have been asking me, let me remind you that I have a row of electric push-buttons on my desk, and by pushing the right button, I can summon to my aid men who can answer ANY question I desire to ask concerning the business to which I am devoting most of my efforts. Now, will you kindly tell me, WHY I should clutter up my mind with general knowledge, for the purpose of being able to answer questions, when I have men around me who can supply any knowledge I require?”

YOU ARE SMART!

Yes let me repeat that sentence again.. YOU…..ARE….SMART!!!

You should find what it is that you are smart at.

“Everybody is a genius. But, if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it’ll spend its whole life believing that it is stupid.” – Albert Einstein

It really makes me sad when I witness young kids and people with high potential claiming that they are not intelligent, smart because of a low IQ score.

Find what it is that you are smart at because god has given you a unique gift which no one else has, just like your fingerprint.

All the best.

How to appear as a credible, respectable, sincere, caring and good person and how not to appear as a bad, insincere, ruthless and ill-mannered person.

Please know that, if whatever it is that you want to achieve; you must have an honest and sincere desire to get whatever it is that you want to get.

Watch your hands rather than “Watch Your Mouth”

Have you ever asked yourself – why is it that people too often get me wrong? Why did he/she frown at me? Why did he/she make fun of  me just now?

Human communication experts claim that communication between individuals are mainly via body language, rather than spoken words.

Speaking about on the spot situations, I believe that 60 to 70 % of the time you might convey false messages to people because of your body gestures or tone of voice. Did you rub your nose a lot while communicating? did you have your arms tightly crossed around your chest, having your fists clenched while talking? watch out for these body gestures because your body reveals what your mind is truly thinking, just shutting up isn’t enough.

The secret in showing the right body gestures is in your inner sincerity & self-image. You need to ponder on this thought for a while. Stop for a second, think and meditate on this thought.

I recommend that you read articles about body language. Here is a good book that you can use as a start – it introduces you to the fundamentals of body language communication. The definitive book of Body Language by Alan & Barbara Pease.

Decide once and for all “I am good and no one can discourage me”.

Once you decide that you are a good, sincere and caring person, do not be discouraged if something happens that may prove the opposite.

You might be noticing the little wrong things that you are doing but you should not forget that you might not be noticing the major good things that you are doing.

Keep your eyes open for feedback but not all feedback.

As the saying goes: “Feedback is the breakfast of champions” feedback is very important in our lives and in the monitoring of our progress. A heat seeker rocket can not hit its target if there is no feedback mechanism that is informing the rocket about its direction.  A child will never put his hands into flaming fires if he has been burned previously. You can not know how well you did in the exam unless if it is graded.

Sadly many of men use false feedback from insincere friends or family to measure their progress.

So be sure that the feedback you are getting, is from a person of sincerity and trust. Not just a person who lacks self-discipline and would not mind seeing you down.

Have an attitude of humility

Don’t try to look glorified and dignified all the time. Have an attitude of humility. Whenever you make a mistake or unintentionally make a wrong move, know that the mistake was course correction. Apologize if you have to and move on.

“Our mistakes are course corrections”

Change your self-image

Once you see yourself as a good, caring and a sincere person the rest will come inevitably.

Change yourself for yourself and not for someone else.

Please know that I am not saying that the above can be achieved in an instant, like I said, if you have an honest and sincere desire to achieve whatever it is that you want to achieve, god will always be on your side.

Talk to you soon
