Thought rec #3

As I become smarter, everyone around me becomes smarter.

No matter how many epiphanies god bestows upon me, I still feel inadequate, there is still something missing inside.

Am I a genius? Am I smart? What makes me smart? How much potential do I have?

Have you asked yourself these questions? How much potential do you have? What are your abilities?

If you are aware of them and are utilizing them in good ways – well done!

If you are not aware of them I don’t blame you because you seem to be happy and fullfilled even though you are not using your god given strengths in life. also – well done!

Let me illustrate how much potential you have and how many abilities you are aware of with this draft:

You see those blank circles? (pardon me for the rough drawing, I like to keep it simple 🙂 they are your hidden skills which you are ignoring and those filled circles are the skills which you are aware of.

In the above chart there are three filled circles, theoritically speaking, it means that there are three discovered abilities that were hidden. Oftenly there are people who have unleashed more than three circles of talent and oftenly there are people who have unleashed zero circles of talent. The matter is in your hands, whether you want to discover them or not.

Possible skills could be anything!

Public speaking, tutoring, coaching, listening, talking, sports, drawing, writing, observing, analysing, relating, communicating, organizing, co-ordinating, etc etc etc ANYTHING!

The Budhist quote “When the student is ready, the master appears” is of great significance, I’m not claiming to be a religious expert, I’m only demonstrating my own understanding of the quote.

Why is it significant? because if you are not searching for your abilities, skills and talents – you will not find them. Therefore you are not ready to be aware of them and use them.

The bible:  “And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.” (Jeremiah 29:13)

How do I find my talent?

Keep your eyes open! speaking about my personal experience; I used to think that all praise is meaningless and is said just for the sake of conversation.

Now I come to realise that every single joke has a percentage of truth in them.

So watch out for the feedback that you get. Not all jokes are jokes 🙂 keep your eyes and ears open (I don’t know how you will keep your ears open,, I think you should shift your ear drum so that more air can enter 🙂 ) for good feedback that you get from your surrounding. Notice the hidden key in those praises or jokes that come from the mouths of your friends, family or colleagues, this will help you in discovering your abilities. Reading books and articles, noticing successful people around you – and what makes them successful – will be of great help as well.

BELIEVE IN YOURSELF!

Believe that you have hidden abilities that are not activated.

Why are my talents hidden?

Because we have been conditioned since childhood to think that everything is pre-determined, everything is bad, we have no choice in anything, we should follow the “norm” and we should imitate our friends or what we see on T.V. you might also be busy with your social obligations; family, work, studies. They deviate your mind from these hidden abilities which you are unaware of.

Shocking Facts from NLP

NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) refers to the study of success. Generaly speaking, it is a study on how can your mind-set and psychology be affected and altered by language, meditation etc. These are some facts quoted from www.suhailalgosaibi.com

  • By the time a child turn 6 years old he’s heard the word “NO!” 148,000 times!
  • 90% of prisoners were told by their parents that they’d end up in jail. How’s that for self-fullfilling prophecies?
  • There is no relation between a person’s GPA (grade point average) and their success in life. How pertinent!
  • Today, in the US 40% of kids are on medication!!
  • By the age of 12, a child has seen 12,000 murders in the media. I really wonder how they measure these things, but I’m sure it must be either true or very close to the truth.
  • 75% of our programming from parents, peers, the media, school etc. is negative!

Suhail is a Radical Entrepreneur who is based in Bahrain, he is a master Neuro Linguistic Programmer and a third Dan Zendo-Kickboxing Blackbelt. I definitely recommend that you visit his blog. Click here to view the full article.

This inhibition and negativity is sealing our awareness of our true talents.

Have Faith

Remember that you should have the desire to find what god given talents and abilities you have, and once you find them – you can utilize those abilities which you enjoy utilizing. This, my friend, can bring more happiness and self-contentment in your life.

“Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.”
